symbolism
Toby and his family started to prepare there thanksgiving dinner. Even though Toby couldn't help much, because his disability, he still tried his best. His mother would hand him a spoon and bring him the something like mash potatoes that could be stirred because he really just wanted to be a part of his family that he felt so distant from. Once every thing was cooked and prepared, Toby felt obligated to stay out of the way of his family because he knew how they felt when he was around him. He hated how everyone felt sorry for him and tried to walk on egg shells when ever he was around, and worst of all, how they looked at him differently then the rest of his family. Thanksgiving; however, was different because he could act like a different person for the day and he couldn't hear any of the offensive things they would say about him. He would pretend as if he was not different from the rest of his family and just try to blend in and not be noticed. He also would take out his hearing aids, so the rude and hurtful things they would say about him wouldn't hurt. This is why Thanksgiving was Toby's favorite holiday.
Ten years later, Toby got word that his mother was very sick. He hadn't been to his mother's house in almost five years now and he didn't know how to feel about that. However, he pushed aside his mixed feelings about this place and bought a plane ticket back home. When he stepped into the kitchen, he was flooded with so many memories of the times he got to help out and feel like he was apart of something, but also the memories of being someone he wasn't and the hatred that was shown to him. He then walked into his mother's bedroom where she lay still, and his hectic family around her bed crying and hugging one another. All he could think was: am I too late? He immediately felt guilty for even having the memories he had and wished he would have come sooner. His family embraced him and seemed genuinely happy to see him which made him wonder if his family would've accepted him for who he really is.

how to make a dog toy
To make this dog toy, you will need two old crew socks, some soft cotton stuffing, duct tape, a dog treat, and a friend. Once you have all of these items, you can fill each sock with an even amount of the stuffing. Make sure you only fill the sock a little bit lower than the top of the socks. once you have done this, put the dog treat into one of the socks. When you put the treat in the sock with the stuffing, try to put it close to the middle of the sock. Then, you enclose the sock with the treat in it with the other sock. This means you first take the sock without the treat and stretch the ends upwards to open it. Then, your friend will put the sock with a treat into the other opened sock. Next, take the duct tape and wrap the socks in it, especially making sure you cover the ends so it does not fall apart.
After making the toy, you can decorate it with markers or sticks or anything else you know your dog enjoys to chew on. Now you can give it to your dog and watch them try to get the treat inside and enjoy them chewing on something other that your furniture!

critical scene from LOTF
In Lord of the Flies, one of the most critical scenes is when Simon is hallucinating and talking to the pig's head on stick. The pig's head is described as the lord of the flies. This scene is so critical because of the ways the author uses the pig's head to symbolize other things. For one, the head represents Beelzebub, or the devil's right hand man. This is a weird metaphor because Beelzebub is depicted as a type of fly and the pig's head is called the lord of the flies because he is surrounded by flies. When Simon is talking to the lord of the flies, he tries to inflict chaos on the island.
Also, as Simon is talking to the lord of the flies, he talks about the beast and how he wants to visit the top of the mountain, so the pig's head responds by saying if he went to the top of the mountain he will ruin the fun, so all of the boys will kill him. This is interesting because he is talking to the lord of the flies in his head, but the pig knows a lot about what is going to occur in future events. This scene also relates to scenes in the bible when Jesus is alone and is very thirsty and is tempted in the dessert by Satan, just like Simon.

thanksgiving
This year for Thanksgiving, my family and I are going to New York City and Boston, Massachusetts. Usually we would spend Thanksgiving break going to our family and extended families houses, but nearly all of our families houses were impacted and destroyed in the flood. My mom thought it would be fun to leave "the flood" behind for a while and what better way to get our minds of the flood then to travel. The other reason we are visiting these cities is so that my sister can tour some of the ivy league colleges.
I think I am going to really miss some of my families Thanksgiving traditions though. We always have a big dinner with my whole family and it is so much fun to eat and enjoy each other's company. This year, everything is different because of the flood and some of my family is in the hospital right now. This year I am still thankful for this experiences because they help me to learn new things and to be a better person.

who is your role model?
My role model isn't actually a person. My role model is the future version of me. Some times I do have a role model like Blake Lively or some other famous figure to be a good example through my life, but I always want to try to be even better than them. I try to learn different things from the different people I see through out my day and attempt my best to learn from their mistakes.
If I did though, have to choose one role model, I would choose my uncle. My uncle probably isn't like any other role model because he isn't perfect. He is my role model because he is passionate about what he does and will do what ever it takes to accomplish his goals. He is a drummer and he moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his dreams; even-though, it was a new and scary place far away from his family. A couple of weeks after he moved, he was diagnosed with colon cancer, but that didn't stop him. Now he is a drummer for a popular band in Nashville and has been in remission for almost three years now.

LOTF passage response
passage on PG.83-84
In the passage, Piggy is not worried about this imaginary beast, but the beasts that all the boys are turning into, including himself. They say that the beast would eat pig and they eat pig, so I think that that means that are the beasts themselves and most of the boys either don't understand this or try to dismiss this because they feel it would be better to believe in a fictional beast. They want to believe in this fictional beast because they still have a conscience, and it would be better for them to kill a beast than to kill one of their own. In the next part, Piggy is trying to say that he has the right to speak, because of the conch, but nobody is listening to him which shows hoe there once fun civilization is now corrupting and the rules are being broken.
Later in the passage, Piggy is trying to justify his reasons of why the beast is not real by giving scientific evidence, but all of the other boys are immature and don't exactly understand what Piggy is truly saying. When Piggy is talking about how the beast is not real, he internally realizes that there may be a good reason to be afraid, but not of the beast. They should be afraid of each other.
