  In this article, it talks about how police use the sound of guns to track where there is a possible crime so they can be more efficient when it comes to crimes with guns, but the National Rifle Association wants to allow more gun owners to own gun silencers because they claim that gun sounds are a public health hazard. Even though, there are around 30,000 or more deaths caused from gun violence, yet that is only a small fraction of total guns that have been shot, but stopped by police before anyone was hurt or killed. The police are able to stop these crimes because of the loud sounds they make, so if everyone had gun silencers, it would be a lot harder to find the shooter before someone got hurt or was killed. Currently, there is a $200 tax and a vetting period to get a silencer, but most gun owners are trying to annul this tax. A bill has been made to get rid of this tax and if it passes, silencers will be much more attainable for everyone, which may help to muffle the gun shots of a deadly shooter.
    I believe that everyone should think of the true consequences this could have. I know not everyone would use the silencers for mass shootings or any deadly deeds, but some people might, and I think we have this law in place for the safety of everyone. I think that the tax and vetting period is very reasonable for someone who would only use the silencers for hunting and protecting themselves and they don't want to be a public health hazard, but some people want the silencers to get away with deadly deeds. I found this article by searching for gun control and gun safety issues because that interests me a lot more than politics. I am also really interested in gun control issues because my cousin died from staying with a family who did not properly lock up their guns and did not keep the safety on.
